Bio
Dr Connolly was born and raised in Rowan County. She has been caring for animals for as long as she can remember and there has never been a time in her life that she was not surrounded by animals. Even when they take vacations, her family always manages to find animals on their trip to appreciate. Her roots run deep in NC Agriculture and most of her immediate and extended family have a connection to agriculture, including many agriculture teachers and past NC State FFA officers. She grew up with a strong love for animals and a strong sense of community.
After graduating from West Rowan High School, she attended NC State and received her Poultry Science degree before continuing on to attend NC State Vet School. After receiving her DVM in 2001, Dr Connolly practiced in Salisbury until 2018 when she decided to open her own mixed animal practice in the basement of her family’s home. RSV really had a second, or official beginning, when she moved the practice to its current location in March of 2020.
Dr Connolly married the love of her life, Mike, in 1996 and they have two children, Cindy and Matthew. In addition to RSV, they also run a small farm that is home to sheep, donkeys, horses, dogs, cats, and one water buffalo. Most of the animals may officially belong to Cindy, but Dr Connolly & Mike still can claim Rebel (an old heeler cross rescue dog), Tick (Border Collie), Big Red (donkey), Wilma & Betty (horses).
They also attend sheep shows that Cindy’s sheep are in and Matthew’s baseball games. There isn’t much time left over, but when they can sneak away, they enjoy hiking in the mountains and fishing at the beach.
Dr Connolly has many things that she loves about working at RSV. The doctors and staff are a great group of people who really care about serving their community by providing care for its animals. She enjoys getting to know pets and their families and being able to be someone they trust to help them make the best decisions for their families.
Dr Connolly’s favorite types of animals are dogs and horses.
